Canon's T4i ... a bust?

According to this new article, written by our friends over at F-Stoppers, the new Canon T4i is the worst new Rebel ever to be produced. Looking at just the sensor ratings generated by DxO Marks, the new T4i falls behind even the T2i in every single category. Ouch. But is it really that bad? Popular Photography Magazine, in last month's issue, stated it was "the best Rebel yet" but somehow they managed not to give it a slot on the cover announcing it's greatness to the world as they have with every other Rebel release. I'm not jockeying a position here, the editors of PP state this in their write up.
So what's the deal? Is this a good camera or not? It's stats look fantastic on paper. But, when you consider that it is more expensive than the competition's basic entry level DSLR, you start to wonder what Canon was going for in this model. The take away from this whole mess is summed up by this quote from another F-Stoppers article:
So, if you are in the market for an upgrade to your existing Rebel, skip the T4i and go straight for the 60D. It's only $100 more with a lot better scores in almost every category:What We Don’t:
Price: At almost $1000, this camera is a bit more expensive, especially when compared to Nikon’s entry level D3200.
Only 18mp: The D3200 wipes the floor with the T4i, with a massive 24mp. So If that’s what’s important to you, You might want to think about going Nikon. If you have to own a Canon, choose another model.
